The first time in Belgian history!

Ask athletes at top-level for their goals and you ‘ll get the answer: participation at international, major competitions such as world championships, culminating in the ultimate goal: the Olympic Games.

Sometimes dreams become true.

Thibaut De Marre is a genuine Belgian living in France, the Vercors. He practices cross country skiing since a very young age. His body shape and lean physique is favorable for the classic style.

Thierry Langer who is studying abroad in Germany often participates at international biathlon competitions. He is rather a skater.

They are for the moment our two best cross country skiers: being students they dispose of a wide range of facilities so that it becomes a bit easier to combine higher education and a top-level sports career.

February 2016 was a milestone in the history of Belgian cross-country skiing: for the first time Belgium was represented in the cross-country discipline on the Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer.

Their participation at the Olympics, will increase publicity for cross-country skiing. At the end the facilities for all cross-country skiers or roller skiers will be better!

In March 2017 the Royal Belgian Ski Federation (FRBS/KBSF) sends out 3 athletes to compete at the World Championships in Lahti, Finland. It concerned Thibaut De Marre, Thierry Langer and Stephan Langer. As a small country Belgium couldn’t count on the support of a full team (technicians, coach, manager). Alain Polmans, the coach of the national team assumed the tasks of many persons. He did an incredible job.

Belgium did well in the qualifications (classic style), though only Thibaut got qualified.

In other international competitions Thierry Langer played his part as well. His performances are more than promising.

The Royal Belgian Ski Federation (FRBS/KBSF) is preparing another milestone. After Lillehammer in 2016, Lahti in 2017, they are looking forward at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang starting in February 2018.

Thibaut and Thierry are on cruise speed in their preparation for the Olympics : an intensive training program with monthly a 1 week training camp. Preparing for D-day and the Olympics is a demanding job and often urges to sacrifices.

End of May 2017 our two Belgian cross-country skiers were invited to participate at the training camp organized by the BOIC in Rio Maior (Portugal). They are now an undeniable part of Team Belgium.

To share their experiences and to allow you to be part of this Olympic project, this  website has been created .
